A
little bit of help goes a long way!
It takes more than mere dollars to run a parish church the way it should be. By
that we mean that a place of worship is not just a place we attend once a week
and then go on our separate ways. Donations received sometimes suffice only to
keep everything at a bare minimum. They keep the buildings from falling down,
pay pastoral staff below par wages, put a little bit on debts and get the
parking lot plowed in winter.
However, many are praying that the plow will not break down this year, that the
roof will not leak, and that the old plumbing will not burst. These are
the nightmares that can keep parish councils busy for hours during monthly or
emergency meetings.
Funds are always needed for religious education of the young and other age
groups as well. Workshops, guest speakers training media and related equipment
don't come for free. Yet these are a functions of churches as well.
As you can see in these pictures, money is not the only way to help (especially
if your income is limited). If you have been gifted with a talent, large or
small consider offering some of your time to your church.
Perhaps you could donate a couple hours per week or per month?
